Please Watch to Learn More About Brand 316!
I was honored to teach a workshop on mentoring inmates at the Correctional Ministries and Chaplains Association in Chicago. This was pre recorded before the conference. The workshop at the conference also included several discussions and Q&A's. One key factor is the importance of the general society (you) understanding what inmates go through both while inside and outside to be better equipped to help them successfully reenter society.
As Christians, we are called to help the poor, the hopeless and the most vulnerable. Jesus walked that daily as an example for you and I. He cared about the least of us and used our past failures for His Glory.
Psalms 10:18 tells us that we will hear the cries of the oppressed. We have to listen! They are there – all over our city, our Country, community and our Churches. Sometimes simple statistics can help you hear the cries more clearly, let you see the devastation when those cries are ignored.
Brand 316 was started by David Phillips after spending nearly 4 years in federal prison. The reality for prisoners is upon release they are given little chance to succeed because of the stigma created by being formerly incarcerated.
David is the son of Dr. Keith Phillips, the founder of World Impact which is a Christian ministry focused on the inner cities of America. David grew up as a missionary’s kid And developed a heart for those in need at an early age. After spending nearly 4 years in prison, David developed a heart for the people coming out of prison that have very little hope of success in a long-term.
Prior to incarceration, David founded and was CEO of a large, digital marketing firm based out of Los Angeles. Growing up a missionaries kid, then a successful entrepreneur and then incarceration, gives David a unique perspective on solving the large issue of high recidivism.
Brand 316 is a Christian ministry focused on stopping the revolving door of incarceration through Christ-Centered personal, professional and spiritual development and training for the formerly incarcerated. We focus on reintegration training, career and job training, and employment for the recently released.
Our program is intense with the goal of Christ-Centered life changes and creating a mentality of making smart long term decisions focused on the future. All we do is to bring Glory to Christ and give those in most need every tool possible to thrive upon release from Prison.
Rev. Dr. Don Davis is a well-known and respected leader in the Christian community. This video was filmed when David Phillips, the founder of Brand 316 was able to introduce Brand 316 to over 50 Wichita area pastors. David’s goal was to introduce the program to the pastors and to plant the seeds so that they fully understood that Brand 316 has created a solution for the formerly incarcerated through its intense and detailed reintegration training program.
In this video, Dr. Davis shares his thoughts in reference to Brand 316 and the call to help those in need. We were thankful that Dr. Davis took the time to hear about Brand 316 as well as share his thoughts. We encourage you to listen to it in full and do more research on how you can support Brand 316, Inc and our goals of lowering recidivism through the personal, professional and spiritual development of the formerly incarcerated.
The mindset of many prisoners is not that they will stay of prison forever, but that they hope they stay out a longtime. The reality of the harsh society that does not welcome them and a system built to make it as difficult to succeed as possible.
Reintegration refers to the comprehensive efforts and support systems put in place to help the formerly incarcerated successfully reintegrate into society after spending time in jail or prison. The goal is to ensure their smooth transition from incarceration to becoming law-abiding and productive members of the community.
David Phillips was convicted and spent years in Federal Prison. This video discusses his conviction in brief and perceptions of the criminal justice system before and after his conviction.

David was honored to be a part of this video and others with the Central Kansas Prison Ministry. They are streamed on televisions throughout multiple prisons in Kansas including El Dorado, Winfield, Hutchinson and more. It is a rare opportunity to immediately speak to thousands of inmates currently incarcerated that need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. In this video we discussed preparing for release from prison and how to start preparing for successful reintegration. Nearly 7 out of 10 inmates released from prison are rearrested within 3 years and preparation is pivotal to success after prison. CKPM is a wonderful ministry that makes a daily impact on the least of these. If you have a loved one incarcerated, get us in touch with them. We would love to have them as a part of Brand 316 and help them successfully reintegrate back into society, grow their faith in Christ and much more. Click here to refer them to us!
