The Sober Living Discipleship Home is focused on providing a Christ-centered, structured environment focused on realistic long-term success. Our approach is rooted in the love of Christ, offering not a handout, but a hand up. The transition back into society is filled with obstacles. The unfortunate reality is that options are limited, with homelessness, the streets, or overcrowded halfway houses marred by drugs, alcohol, illicit activities, and crime being the norm. This places the recently released in conditions even more challenging than their time in prison and significantly hurts their chances of success after prison!
Our home provides the stability, sober and structured environment needed to thrive in life and create a strong foundation for future success. It is not just a home to sleep in – it is a safe environment focused on growing in Christ, developing the skills needed to be independent in society and the tools for long term success. This includes weekly reintegration training including a strong focus on life and practical skills, one-on-one mentorship, education, attend church weekly, take part in weekly group bible studies, weekly reintegration training, weekly trauma counseling and weekly fellowship. Members of Brand 316 are expected to work full time and have ample job opportunities through friends of our ministry.
The time spent at the House of Teshuvah is meant to be a stepping stone to long term success in Christ and life after incarceration. Members of Brand 316 are trained for 2-3 years while incarcerated and for 52 weeks upon release in the discipleship home. They are your brothers in Christ and are in desperate need for a structured, Christ-Centered discipleship home after release. This is pivotal to their success in life and Christ and is an immediate need for successful reintegration!
Why the house is named Teshuvah?
Teshuvah, a Hebrew word often translated as “repentance,” carries a deeper, richer meaning than what is typically understood in English. While repentance involves turning away from sin, teshuvah more accurately means "to return"—a heartfelt return to alignment with God's will. It reflects an invitation not just to turn from sin, but to joyfully come back into harmony with the life God desires for us. This concept extends beyond spiritual reconciliation; it’s a call to return to a life of purpose, joy, and wholeness in both faith and society. Throughout the Bible and our life we are constantly reminded that we serve a God of second chances.
In the Old Testament, teshuvah is repeatedly emphasized as a call to return to God’s embrace. The prophet Hosea implores the people of Israel, "Come, let us return to the Lord" (Hosea 14:2), urging them to reconcile with God. This theme is echoed throughout the Bible. For example, Psalm 51 clearly portrays King David’s teshuvah after being confronted with his sins. David seeks forgiveness and grace, acknowledging his transgression against God, declaring, "Against You, You only, have I sinned." His confession is not simply a request for pardon, but a plea for renewal—rooted in the belief that God’s compassion is abundant and restorative.
David’s story illustrates a crucial aspect of teshuvah: no matter how far we may have strayed, God’s love provides the foundation for hope and healing. Teshuvah is not just about turning back from wrong but returning to the joy and fulfillment that comes from being in harmony with God. Through it, we are offered the chance to repair our brokenness, rebuild our lives, and find redemption through God’s enduring love and mercy.
Loved One Incarcerated?
If you have a loved one currently incarcerated please refer them to us. To be clear, we are not an option for last minute housing needs. The members of our program take part in training while incarcerated focused on preparing for life after prison and they have to successfully complete our program while incarcerated to live in our Sober Living Discipleship Home. Please click here to refer your loved one to us – we will reach out to them directly and confirm with you once that is done.
